JOB SUMMARY: The Manager of Health, Safety and Environmental assures that the fabricating facility maintains a safety, health and environmental program to meet/exceed all compliance requirements of OSHA, EPA, DOE and our clients. The position will implement and improve upon all aspects of the Corporate Safety Program to maintain a safe and healthy workplace for our employees. Key responsibilities will include but not limited to accident prevention and incident management, risk management, training programs, corrective actions, emergency preparedness, and the prevention of Environmental spills, releases and violations.
Order suspension of activities that pose threats to workers’ health and safety.
Manage workplace hazards to as low As Reasonably Possible (ALARP) through documented training, JHA’s, Work Instructions, and accountability.
Recommend measures to help protect workers from potentially hazardous work methods, processes, or materials.
Lead and support incident reporting, investigations and corrective actions for all injuries, illnesses and equipment damages so accidents might be prevented in the future.
Develop and maintain industrial hygiene program including noise surveys, air quality and temperature sampling, illumination, and exhaust ventilation.
Inspect and evaluate workplace environments, equipment, and practices, in order to ensure compliance with safety standards and government regulations.
Maintain the BU Safety manual and supporting program documentation to ensure compliance with all local, state, federal and corporate requirements applicable to workplace safety
Conduct safety training and education programs and provide demonstrations as necessary.
Provide new-employee health and safety orientations and develop materials for these presentations.
Collect samples of dust, gases, vapors, and other potentially toxic materials for analysis. Investigate health-related complaints and inspect facilities to ensure that they comply with public health legislation and regulations.
Coordinate “right-to-know” programs regarding hazardous chemicals and other substances.
Maintain and update emergency response plans and procedures with tabletop drills, live drills and disaster recovery plans. Inspect specified areas to ensure the presence of fire prevention equipment, safety equipment, and first-aid supplies.
Conduct audits at hazardous waste sites or industrial sites and participate in hazardous waste site investigations.
Collect samples of hazardous materials or arrange for sample collection.
Maintain inventories of hazardous materials and hazardous wastes, using waste tracking systems to ensure that materials are handled properly.
Establish and maintain a positive relationship with Business Leadership and the Director of Health, Safety and Environmental to ultimately achieve the safety goals of the organization.
Align and Adhere site business practices with the established Environmental Compliance calendar
Assist and Advice BU Leadership on the direction and the necessary actions on all subjects Safety, Health and Environmental.
Establish and communicate site safety performance expectations, while implementing improvements in a continuous improvement mindset.
Demonstrate the ability to work independently to develop program enhancements and implement the changes through a team approach.
You will be responsible for the complete sales cycle which includes leading and/or participating in proposal preparation, contract negotiation, contract administration, and customer activities in accordance with company policies, contract and legal requirements, and customer specifications. You will be part of a team that produces valves and related equipment for US Navy nuclear submarines and aircraft carriers.
AS THE APPLICATION SPECIALIST, YOU WILL:
Review bid packages, complete product selection and assist with project negotiations.
Develop a comprehensive proposal to include pricing, sizing and selection, clarification of order requirements, etc.
Support customers by answering inquiries regarding contract provisions, interpretation, and modifications and coordinating customer visitations.
Complete and provide submittal drawings and other project documentation such as quality inspection and test plans, production plans, test procedures, etc.
Ensure that all order/project requirements are met by interfacing with other departments including engineering, quality assurance, manufacturing operations, and finance.
REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:
5+ years’ experience preparing quotations and managing the fulfillment of those orders
US citizenship required due to US Navy contractual requirements
Well-honed administrative writing skills, track record of building customer relationships, and demonstrated conflict resolution skills
PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:
Associate or Bachelor’s degree in engineering or similar technical field
5+ years’ experience, preparing quotations and managing the fulfillment of those orders for the US government or US military
Technical knowledge of valves, valve products or similar engineered products
You will part of the team that produces pressure relief valves for nuclear power plants as well as valves for US Navy submarines and aircraft carriers. Safety and quality are paramount, and you will be the business partner and liaison to our suppliers driving continuous improvement and excellence, ensuring all suppliers and the materials they provide are in compliance with engineering and manufacturing specifications and company and government standards.
AS THE SUPPLIER QUALITY MFG. ENGINEER, YOU WILL:
Champion problem solving and root cause analysis activities with suppliers to eliminate recurrence of non-conformances in a timely manner.
In collaboration with the buyers, oversee supplier rating and development strategies including scorecards, supplier corrective action requests (SCARS), coaching troubled suppliers, and maintaining the approved supplier list (ASL).
Address purchased component issues as they relate to fit, form, or function with the engineering group.
Drive engineering, manufacturing, and design best practices and lessons learned for purchased components leveraging the knowledge and expertise of the global supply chain.
Communicate with vendors regularly to address any concerns and foster an environment that facilitates continual improvement in working relationships.
REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:
A Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Engineering or similar technical discipline
A minimum of 5 years of manufacturing engineering experience
Broad understanding and experience with manufacturing technologies and processes is required such as forgings, casting, and machined components
US Citizenship required due to contract requirements with the US Navy
PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:
Experience of working in an engineered to customer order environment
Knowledge of military specifications and government contracts a plus
As a Principal Design Engineer for Combustion/Fuels Equipment, candidates should have experience with similar equipment such as Steam Generation, Low NOx, Burners, Emission Equipment, Combustion Systems, Boilers, etc.
Handle full product development project responsibilities including developing new products, implementing cost reduction efforts and improving equipment design.
Provide proposal and sales support with presentations, technical guidance and manhour estimates.
Provide consultation to other engineer groups as necessary.
Develop engineering standards for equipment sizing and emissions performance predictions.
Execute contracts, proposals, and new development work in equipment design and Project Engineering
Meet performance expectations for executing NOx projects
Become the subject expert in various firing systems
Author field test procedures and reports
Lead service teams during emissions performance test programs
Produce and present technical content at conferences
BS in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering with a Masters preferred
10+ years of experience in a related industry with a background in project engineering, and product design
PE license or the willingness to obtain a PE license
Knowledge of ASME codes
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
The Production Operations Manager is responsible for general management/supervision of all phases of the Diecast department including safety, daily production, scheduling, training, and quality control. The Diecast Manager will oversee a highly diverse department with Machine Operators and Driller/Grinders. Machinery includes 18 quantity 400 to 650 ton cold chamber aluminum die cast machines and trim presses as well as multiple drilling/grinding stations.
Maintains a safe and clean work environment in compliance with safety standards.
Provides leadership for successful day-to-day production.
Schedules and reviews production schedules.
Coordinates and updates production status with other departments.
