Sr. Project Manager with a world leader in power generation and industrial heat transfer related products. With capabilities in the design and manufacturing of equipment, plant design engineering and construction and aftermarket services, they are capable of providing turnkey solutions to energy and industrial entities throughout the world. 

The Senior Project Manager is responsible to effectively manage multiple or large complex projects through design development, procurement, fabrication, construction and start-up & commissioning.  Provide direction and oversight to a project team including engineering, quality assurance, productions planning, purchasing and cost accounting; secure and coordinate the services of support organizations including legal, finance, manufacturing, sales and field service. Project scope will be large capital new construction and retrofit projects in the energy generation industry.

 

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Define project scope, goals and deliverables that support project requirements and business goals in collaboration with senior management and stakeholders.
  • Develop full-scale project plans and associated communications documents.
  • Internal Management of core project team and assigned engineering and third party resources to accomplish stated project objectives on-time and within budget.
  • Effectively communicate project expectations to team members and stakeholders in a timely and clear fashion.
  • Plan and schedule project timelines and milestones using appropriate tools.
  • Identify and manage project dependencies and critical path.
  • Represent business as singe-point contact for the project’s customer, with respect to technical, commercial, schedule, and develop and negotiate proposals for supplemental work and changes of project scope.
  • Continuously monitor the project for signs of existing or potential problems and take the lead role to solve or preclude the problem from developing.  This may take the form of adding resources, negotiating a change with the customer, revising the plan, development of contingency plans, etc. as deemed appropriate.
  • Determine and assess need for additional staff and/or consultants and make the appropriate recruitments as necessary during project cycle.
  • Prepare and issue progress reports and presentation to customers and management.
  • Coordinate/Conduct periodic review meetings of projects in process for business leadership.
  • Coach, mentor, motivate and supervise project team members and contractors, and influence them to take positive action and accountability for their assigned work.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 10 years experience in project management or sales, having customer contact and negotiation responsibility
  • Project planning within Primavera (P6v7)
  • Knowledge of engineering design for power plant related equipment
  • Experience in Air Quality Control Systems project/construction is a plus

The Regional EHS&S Manager is responsible for providing strategic leadership and acting as the technical subject matter expert to the Western Operations Leadership Team in all matters related to environmental, health, safety, and security compliance.

DUTIES

  • Administers the framework of Global EHS&S Management Systems designed to promote a strong safety culture and top / down – bottom up process focused on driving accountability and “Best in Class” performance.

  • Participates in the development, implementation, and monitoring of daily adherence to environmental, health, safety and security policies and procedures.

  • Facilitates Regional EHS&S Leadership Meeting & self – audit / inspections on a quarterly basis.

  • Leads EHS&S performance improvements initiatives and corporate business plan objectives across the territory.

  • Facilitate/participate in Serious Incident Review (SIR) and Incident Investigations and Root-Cause Analysis of all

    incidents as appropriate; coordinating and participating (as required) in the investigation and case management of

    accidents and near misses, per policy and/or regulatory requirements.

  • Fosters the continuous improvement of corporate and regional EHS&S Policies and Procedures to ensure compliance

    with regulatory requirement and administrative best practices.

  • Participate in hourly EHS&S talent acquisition, professional development strategies and regional EHS&S goal setting

  • Responsible for the supervision and staffing of project based EH&S professionals.

  • Provide supervision, training and coaching to operational leaders and site safety professionals to ensure technical

    competence and development within the region and during project execution.

  • Lead / monitor and communicate regional performance management metrics weekly / monthly focused on analyzing and communicating both leading and lagging indicators trends.

  • Participate in bid spec review and hazard assessments associated with projects performance.

  • Provide technical oversight and development of Site Specific Safety Action and Emergency Response Plans, Hazard

    Assessments and Mitigation Plans.

  • Maintain a working knowledge of Company, Customer and Regulatory Requirements throughout the territory.

  • Act as the regional subject matter expert to the Leadership and Project Teams in all matters related to EHS&S.

  • Conduct EHS audits, tracking trends within an internal database in accordance with policy.

  • Facilitates Industrial Hygiene assessments, sampling and long-term records retention.

  • Acts as the primary Designated Employer Representative (D.E.R.) responsible for monitoring the implementation and

    compliance with the Company / Customer Fit for Duty Programs across the territory.

EDUCATION EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

Directs and manages global contracts to design, fabricate and erect Steam and general Power Generation equipment of varying scope and complexity.

 

Responsibilities:

· Manages all aspects of Capital and Aftermarket contracts and contract change orders to optimize the Company’s profit potential and minimize risk and exposure.

· Acts as primary liaison with the Customer to develop and maintain a good working relationship during contract execution.

· Develops the overall Project Quality Plan and assures compliance during execution of the project.

· Identifies and manages all project risks.

· Accountable for the complete project budget, forecast, and monthly cash flow reports.

· Generates the Monthly Project Status Reports to the Customer and VPI Executive Staff.

· Responsible for coordinating and overseeing the development and maintenance of the overall project schedule.

· Develops Supplier Special Terms & Conditions as needed, and generates requisitions for engineered equipment.

· Approves all project related requisitions and expenditures.

· Accountable for all project related correspondence and financial files / records as identified by Company ISO procedures.

· Evaluates and selects suppliers and subcontractors for major materials, engineered equipment and fabrication services in conjunction with VPI Supply Management and Global Supply Management.

· Responsible for coordinating shipping through VPI and BPI Logistics including utilizing Customer systems as well as resolving shipping issues such as Overages, shortages and Damage reports.

· Performs and / or assists in studies for economic / technical optimization of our products within the confines of the Contract.

· Organizes and facilitates weekly project team meetings and the issuance of the minutes.

· Coordinates development of the Erection manuals per applicable Company ISO procedures.

· Coordinates all project related field activities through completion of commissioning and all punch list activities to include interface with VPI site construction and commissioning Technical Advisors and Customer / Contractor site management, and negotiation / cost control of field related extra work orders.

· Coordinates the resolution and final disposition of NCR’s (Non Conformance Reports) and site RFI’s (Request For Information). Supports Buyers and Subcontract Managers in resolution of SDR’s (Supplier Deviation Requests).

· Responsible for complete project closeout and handoff to Warranty.

· Sharing of information with Project Team. Provides coaching and mentoring to project team members to develop a well-functioning team environment.

· Participates on or manages internal teams as assigned for process/continuous improvement.

· Provides pre-sales support to the Sales and Marketing group on an as needed basis.

 

Qualifications:

· Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Engineering. MBA preferred. Five (5) years’ experience managing complex large ($5 to $60 million) projects as a project or general manager, with total project accountability. International project management experience desired.

· Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills. Multi-lingual skills very desirable.

· Must exhibit strong leadership skills and the ability to work in a matrix team environment.

· Must exhibit an understanding of heat transfer, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics and general engineering principles as they apply to the equipment manufactured or supplied by company.

· Must exhibit a knowledge and understanding of contracts (legal and financial aspects), cost control and scheduling.

· Must be organized; thorough; able to process, absorb and transfer information expediently; and be able to work under pressure in order to meet deadlines.

· Requires competency in MSEXCEL, WORD and other relevant software.

This business unit specializes in Valves and Actuators and as such, candidates must have at least similar product experience (Valves, Actuators, Automation, Controls, Pumps, etc). The target markets are water / wastewater, O&G, transmission, compression, etc.

This position plans and directs the engineering operations from design engineering to application engineering product line. Provides technical guidance and ensures sound engineering procedures and effective use of facilities.

• Plan and direct the work of a highly skilled engineering team, placing priority on current sales order needs and research and development.

• Direct, review, and approve product design and changes.

• Direct overall product development from concept to testing and full production to market entry. Monitor progress of projects; lead engineers to ensure development is on schedule and within budgetary guidelines.

The Quality Manager will plan, direct, and execute efforts to assure that the quality of product delivered to customers meets or exceeds expectations. The Quality Manager will also have responsibility over Quality Assurance and Quality Control functions within the business unit, including the maintenance and improvement of the company’s quality management system, processes, certifications, continuous improvement initiatives, and driving and supporting actions needed to accomplish department and business goals.

 

 

TASKS:

· Support the proposals process by reviewing project scope and associated specifications to identify special manufacturing or quality requirements and assist in the documentation, and communication of quality-specific exceptions and technical clarifications. Develop estimates for Quality Support man-hours, subcontract inspection services and cost.

· Plan, identify and assign the necessary resources to accomplish all project specific quality activities. Document and update project quality support schedules and assess the department’s resource capacity to complete assigned work.

· Manage and assist in the Quality Surveillance and inspection activities needed to support project execution using Quality Staff or Third-Party Inspection services. Ensure associated cost is within defined budget and limitations and when circumstances allow, initiate actions to reduce costs while maintaining the integrity of the Quality Surveillance program.

· Coordinate and assist in the development of project specific Quality Plans, inspection checklists, and documentation requirements for suppliers of fabrications, raw materials and equipment utilized in projects.

· Manage the process to control nonconformances and lead the root-cause analysis and implementation of corrective actions on critical nonconformances. Work closely with Engineering, Procurement, and Project Management in the resolution and close out of nonconformances. Track, measure and report the results of this process and identify trends requiring attention.

· Support the Supplier qualification process to determine the adequacy of suppliers to fulfill our requirements by auditing their quality management systems and assessing their fabrication capabilities. Monitor the performance of active suppliers and provide feedback and recommendation to supply chain in the determination of the supplier status or the need for re-evaluation.

· Support the company’s Quality Management System and documentation and assist in the attainment of the company’s ISO 9001 certification. Manage the company’s internal audit program including documentation of audit results, documentation of non-conformities and necessary corrective actions. Support in the creation and revision of procedures and work instructions as needed.

· Facilitate and lead improvement initiatives within the department and across other functional areas. Track and report on the status and results of continuous improvement actions.

· Coordinate and prioritize the execution of work of direct reports. Document and report the status of activities performed by the team and assist with resolution of issues or escalate as necessary. Foster a positive and collaborative work environment.

The Manufacturing Engineer & Quality Manager is responsible for managing and coordinating assigned functions and programs within the Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, and Maintenance Departments, to include design, investigation, inspection, and project management services and activities. 

 

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support plant objectives and goals in terms of safety, quality, delivery, and cost reduction through continuous improvement of the plant manufacturing processes.
  • Develop and deliver multi-year maintenance and engineering strategy to execute delivery on critical KPI’s.
  • Provide technical and strategic leadership to the plant and engineering teams, including both identification and prioritization of projects and routine tasks.
  • Responsible for capital planning and budget development for engineering activities.
  • Support production to reduce downtime with increased quality.
  • Identify and manage technical outside service providers and contractors (when applicable).
  • Support new product development process, ensuring the successful transfer of the technology from the R&D team to the manufacturing team, providing a consistent and repeatable production and purchasing process.

  • Strong engineering and process conformance knowledge and experience, including SWI (standard work), testing and audit processes, and engineering change management and support.
  • Knowledgeable and skilled in the use of standard mechanical and electrical instruments, functional gauges and test rigs.
  • Demonstrates a strong knowledge of auditing processes.
  • Exhibits a strong ability to handle multiple demands with a sense of urgency, drive and energy.
  • Can effectively cope with change, and comfortably handle risk and uncertainty.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering field (Mechanical, Electrical or Industrial Engineering preferred) or equivalent experience.
  • 10+ years of manufacturing engineering/technical leadership experience.
  • Experience with manufacturing processes, including assembly, fabrication, powder coat paint, and electrical testing.
